Types of Jobs Sought in CHSLDs
CHSLDs are long-term care and housing centers that provide a suitable and safe living environment for the elderly or adults with reduced autonomy. To ensure quality care and services to residents, CHSLDs need to recruit qualified and competent personnel. Here are some examples of the types of jobs that CHSLDs are looking for:
1. Orderly
The orderly plays an essential role in helping residents with their daily activities, such as hygiene, feeding, mobility, etc. They also ensure the surveillance and comfort of residents, collaborating with other caregivers.
2. Nurse↩
Nurses assess the health status of residents, provide nursing and medical care, administer medications, manage records, and play a role in advising, preventing, and educating residents and their families.
3. Licensed Practical Nurse↩
The licensed practical nurse assists the nurse in performing nursing and medical care, such as vital signs, wound care, blood glucose checks, etc. They also ensure the well-being and safety of residents.
4. Occupational Therapist↩
The occupational therapist evaluates the functional abilities of residents, proposes activities tailored to their needs, provides technical aids, teaches compensation strategies, etc. Their goal is to maintain or improve the autonomy and quality of life of residents.
5. Physiotherapist↩
The physiotherapist evaluates the motor skills of residents, prescribes therapeutic exercises, applies physical modalities, provides orthoses, etc. Their goal is to prevent or reduce functional limitations and pain in residents.
6. Psychologist↩
The psychologist evaluates the cognitive, emotional, and behavioral aspects of residents, provides psychological interventions, suggests adaptation strategies, etc. Their goal is to support the psychological well-being and mental health of residents.
